Board and Train my German Shepherd

Board and Train my German Shepherd

Training a dog will be most easy and successful if we study the particular characteristics of a breed and apply those to our training plan.
Training a dog, teaching him certain behaviors, always follows the “Laws of Learning” that have been discovered more then 100 years ago by behavioral scientists that have researched in studies how learning really happens ( Thorndike, Skinner, Pavlov, Watson). The more challenging part is to find a practical way to apply those laws of learning to different breeds.

Is your dog:
Chasing the vacuum cleaner?- Pulling on the leash?- Being reactive to other dogs and/or other animals?- Jumping at people?- Barking at the door?- Not coming when called?

The German Shepherd Dog (GSD) was originally bred in Germany in 1899 by Max von Stephanitz to herd sheep. The breed’s desired traits included strength and intelligence, which were selected for through decades of breeding. Max von Stephanitz selected herding dogs that were strong workers, and bred them to each other- creating the universal German Shepherd Dog that can be trained to do a lot more than just herding. He created a General Working Dog.

Since then, the GSD has been used for many purposes, including:
  • Police and military work: GSDs are often used in these roles around the world due to their strength, intelligence, and obedience training abilities. They can perform tasks such as bomb and drug detection, K-9 partner work, and messenger work.
  • Disability assistance: GSDs can be used as seeing eye dogs and medical assistance dogs.
  • Search-and-rescue: GSDs can be used in search-and-rescue operations.
  • Therapy dogs: GSDs can be used as therapy dogs.
German Shepherd Dogs are typically known to be loyal, devoted, and courageous, and can make great companion dogs. They are highly trainable for anything and do best when mentally and physically stimulated. They generally love people, but can be protective if they come from the right bloodline and are raised properly to develope these traits.

At Zauberberg Kennels, we take great care of combining German bloodlines that have been proven to have strong health, intelligence and trainability.
