Hallo, mein Freund,

It was such an agonizing time of excitement and impatience between remitting the deposit to you and waiting on Maxwell’s arrival, but we are so glad he’s here! In two days he’s been with us, he’s understood that when he goes outside, he is to go to the bathroom and he runs back inside upon finishing, eagerly awaiting his treat of fried egg yolk. He’s learning the home and learning what is his and what is not. I am simply amazed by his capacity for learning at such a young age. I envisioned this would take much more time. I realize with new growth and a new perspective, he’ll be able to explore more than the current 1-foot view from the ground that he’s used to, but we’re eager to teach him as he grows. I currently have the luxury of being home with him so we’ve not needed to crate but when we do, we’ll encourage his comfort and willingness to be in his crate with treats and not use it as punishment, as you’ve instructed in your very helpful videos. Maxwell has received many compliments on his demeanor and looks. My father-in-law said that he will make a “majestic dog” and I whole heatedly agree. We will be sure to update you and share photos as time moves on.
