Sven vom Zauberberg learning to go to the blind fronting the decoy and performing a strong hold and bark exercise that is part of the IPO routine. His hold and bark is fairly well established. In this session, he is gradually trained to come from behind the blind, not having the decoy in sight, and switch into a hold and bark once he is in front of the helper. This is accomplished by gradually opening up the angle that he is sent to the blind from. Besides the main intentions in this session, a call out is trained to have his hold and bark under random schedule of reinforcement , keeping it intense. Some times he gets reinforced by getting a bite , some times he is called out. www.zauberberg.com shows more training advise.

In this video Sven was one year old showing training with perfect balance of being actively in drive for reward. At the same time he is pressed to show the right responses. He shows being clearly separated from the reward waiting for the signal to be allowed to reengage. Feeling comfortable sharing the reward with his trainer, being in total trust and understanding.

Sven recognizes very early during the walk that something is “not right” and gives an alert. He shows very intense aggression toward the threat, and actively pushes the suspect away. First time introducing some obedience behavior (Platz) into the aggression work. Preparing the on and off switch. The aggression is very intense and convincing, without the use of any typical equipment that is commonly used in bite work training.
